I would like to see a bar (like the progress bar) which shows the percentage of free disk space on the filesystem HellaNZB writes to (possibly defined in config.php), which automatically refreshes with the other information

This is a good idea, I just need to think where to put it. :)

I think directly under the Progress Bar of the current download, or maybe even another header? Though it may be a little too 'empty' for that. It may also be an idea to give a 'nice remark' if your download queue exceeds your available diskspace :) (taking in account the space required to unrar files etc.)
